Frequencies and Symbols

A beautiful Raga created to preserve the notes of Samagana, Sameshwari uses a strong Pancham sonant with Shadja as consonant. Madhyam and Rishabh are weak notes touched only in passing. They are not to be used even in phrase S G P D N S while ascending. One can hear notes of Kalavati (G P D N D S) and even Rageshwari (D N S G M R S) can be visualised. Thre are several combinations of notes like, -- G P D N D, D N P D P, G P S N D N D P, G G P, P D G P, G M R N S. A vocal rendering by Laxmi G Tewari entitled Laxmi G. Tewari: Master Indian Classical Vocalist (San Rafael, California: Alam Medina Music Productions, 1983) clearly establishes the Raga.
