This is in reference to a program I attended yesterday (20 July 2010) evening at the auditorium of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar, Indore.  On the occasion of the eve of the Foundation Day of the institution (the institution enters its 30th year today), a special program "SAI SYMPHONY" was organized where about 100 students collectively presented a spell-bound 90 minutes concert.

Students from Class VI to XI were participating and instruments like the Violin, Sitar, Guitar, Flute, Mandolin, Harmonium, Keyboard, Trumpet, Euphonium, Tabla, Cymbal, Jazz Drum, Side Drum, Bass Drum, and a choir were included in the Symphony.

The students with their effort and under the guidance of their music teachers and school band teacher for the last few months could be seen and each note played by the respective students reflected the hard work.

The renditions included an introductory piece specially composed formally used during the opening ceremony, compositions in western music including the theme song of the 1997 blockbuster film 'Titanic', Indian classical music compositions based on Ragas like Jan Sammohini, Raga Nand, Raga Miyaan Malhar, a specially prepared Taal Vadya Kacheri (percussion ensemble), a Rhymes Medley, old popular Hindi film songs,  and Devotional songs.  A special performance of the School Anthem was played and was introduced for the first time in the school.  It has been written and composed keeping in mind Baba's philosophy and it represents the essence of His Teachings.  The program ended with the National Anthem of India.

The program commenced at the scheduled 6 PM and it was heartening to see the auditorium to its full capacity and how the program ended after 90 minutes left the audience eager to listen to more renditions.  This program shall be remembered for years to come and look forward for many more such performances by the young citizens of tomorrow's global village and spread the message of global peace and international understanding with global citizens musically!!!
